Dr Zulfiqar Haider is a fellow of Royal College Of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow and is intercollegiate board certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery from four Royal Colleges of Surgeons of United kingdom and Ireland. He is British trained surgeon who started his career in Cardiothoracic Surgery in 1992 -93 at Cardiothoracic center Liverpool. For further training he worked in different centers of Cardiothoracic surgery in England and Scotland which were Guy's & St Thomas hospitals London,Western Infirmary Glasgow, Blackpool Victoria hospital ,Wythenshawe hospital and Manchester Royal infirmary,Manchester. As mentioned above his last few years were in Northern part of England where he was Specialist Registrar Cardiothoracic surgery until year 2000 when he decided to return to Pakistan. He joined Mayo hospital cardiac surgery department in 2000 and worked as senior Registrar and later as Assistant Professor cardiac surgery until 2006. From 2006 until 2008 he worked as Assistant Professor and visiting consultant cardiac surgeon at Sharif medical & Dental College /hospital,Lahore. From 2009 until 2011 he worked as Associate Professor Cardiac Surgery at Faisalabad Institute Of Cardiology, Faisalabad. He went to Saudia Arabia in 2011 and as Head of the Department established a new Cardiac Surgery Centre named as Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Cardiac Centre, Arar in Northern Border Province Of Saudi Arabia. In 2015 he returned to Pakistan and served on Honorary basis at Punjab institute of Cardiology, Lahore as Associate Professor Cardiac Surgery for one year. In 2016 he joined Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology as Associate Professor Cardiac Surgery until 2018. In September 2018, Government of Punjab transferred his services to Punjab Institute Of Cardiology, Lahore as Associate Professor of Cardiac Surgery where he is working in this capacity until now.
